- I am using Qvtnet v3.94 I have created a modest QVTHOST.RC file containing 7
- entries, my problem is that once in 'Terminal' none of the entries are
- visible, it's as if the program does not know that the file exists. I set
- the working directory to C:\QVTNET which is where the file QVTHOST.RC is, I
- also tried setting the DOS environment variable to point to it (SET
- QVTHOST_DIR=C:\QVTNET) anyone know what I've missed. I am using the
- WinSocket version of the program.

- thanks!

- Subject: problems with wintalk v1.0
-
- Whenever I run wintalk, if the person I am trying to reach doesn't respond or
- an attempt at a connection fails, my system hangs and I have to reboot.
- I am using trumpet winsock v 1.0 Rev A, and I also load wintalk after I load
- some other app so I don't get the GPF. Any suggestions?
-
- Thanks

- Eric, you asked how Mike was getting 3.5 K a sec from his PPP/Slip

- getting Great speeds:
-
- You are using Cac or OTC's terminal server. They are terribly slow. I have
- gotten %30 percent better speeds from other ppp servers than PSU's.
-
- Yeah, well, they're slow because they're busy.

-
- There is a product called Turbocom which replaces the windows serial
- drivers with a ones that will use a 16550 uart much more effectively,
- this shold boost performance significantly for slip/ppp session at above

- If you want good serial performance under window it is worth replacing
- your 8250 uart with a 16650AFN. If your uart is soldered in then you
- will have to buy a board but some older PC the uarts are in plug mounted
- so you can simply replace the chip.
-
- Why new machines are not shipped with 16550 as standard beets me.
-
- Cheers, Russell.

- Subject: telw, what emulation? What stty settings?
-
- Hi! I'm using winsock over a SLIP connection to an RS/6000 running AIX.
- Except, that the window opened by telw doesn't seem to run any decent
- emulation. (And the fact that telw came with NO documentation).
-
- What's the emulation?
-
- What's the stty supposed to be? (Having problems in "vi" with "CR" and "NL"
- characters)
-
- Is there anything better? (Please say yes...)
-
- I'm trying to run multiple telnet sessions to one host from one pc.
- When I get the X stuff loaded on the AIX box, I'll just use xterm, but for
- now, what gives?
